REPERTOIRE
Akshata's repertoire includes new works such as
- A new crisp Sankeerna Alarippu created by her guru that experiments with new movements while keeping the skeletal framework of the traditional alarippu intact.
- Netr varen padam with a fresh look at the poetry and how it can be interpreted for the dancer in question.
- A new Javali "adi neepai marulu" that addresses concepts and ideas pertinent even today.
- A brand new varnam about the Saint Poetess Andaal with lyrics written by Akshata's own father, Aravind Seshadri!!! What a blast we had creating this piece of work.
SPECIAL PIECE
As always Dr. Joyce Paul encourages her students to have a special piece in their Arangetram that represents a concept close to their hearts. Akshata has decided to do a piece about how human beings hold on their masks as they live through life and try to be happy. She will be writing the lyurics and composing music to her ideas.

DEVANSHI PANDYA

ARPAN is super proud and Devanshi is super excited to present her solo debut representing years of intense training with her guru to the community here in Seattle. We have 4 new guest artists participating in the show (outside of the regular orchestra coming in from Chennai). This is a first and an exciting one with 5 new choreographic works!!

As always Dr. Joyce Paul encourages her students to have a special piece in their Arangetram that represents a concept close to their hearts. Devanshi has decided to present a piece on her favourite person, Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
Other new choreographic works include
1. A vandanaa to Maa Shaarada in Raag Bhairavi
2. Vaishnav jan - Gandhiji's favourite bhajan in Bharatanatyam format
3. A beautiful sensual padam by Dr. Balamurali Krishna - "Marulu Minchera"
4. A heartbreaking ashtapadi - "Hari Hari Hatadharataya" set to exquisite music by Srivani Jade

SAVITHA SRINIVASAN

ARPAN is super proud to present Savitha Srinivasan in her solo debut recital in Bharatanatyam.

Savitha has always been impressed with Van Gogh and tonight she will regale the audience with a piece on the torture he faced internally and externally. Being a budding poet herself, Savitha was engouraged by her guru to write poetry about her feelings for Van Gogh.

NIVEDITA POTAPRAGADA

ARPAN is super proud to present Nivedita Potapragada in her solo debut recital in Bharatanatyam.

As always Dr. Joyce Paul encourages her students to have a special piece in their Arangetram that represents a concept close to their hearts.
Nivedita chose to pick a strong woman. Being from Karnataka, her guru recommended picking a historic or current character and weaving a narrative of feminine strength around this character. The family picked Queen Shanthala of the Hoysala dynasty and her own Mother and Aunt wrote the poetry for her main piece -the Varnam.

Meera Srinivasan

ARPAN is proud to present its first young adult arangetram by Meera Srinivasan.
